seeking sealed competitive bids from qualified playground equipment manufacturers and vendors for a parks improvement project. Bidding opportunities indude playground equipment, playground surface material and installation supervision. Bid #1 will be for a large sized playground equipment system with moderate to high complexity and ADA compliance. This piece should include a variety of climbing, slide, entry points, and play features, as many as 7 or 8 in total. Connecting decks to these features and between other decks can be of different heights, from 4 to 8 feet. The piece also should include an ADA transfer station (if possible). Features that include "play gym" activities would be welcome. Specifications: approximately 1,200 square feet ground space and 2,400 square feet protective area; designed for 5-12 age group; price range: $25,000 to $50,000 Bid #2 will be for a medium-sized playground system with moderate complexity and ADA compliance. This piece of play equipment should include two or more slide features, as well as two or more rock or vine climbing features. Both elevated and ground level play activities should be included. Special engagement play panels such as drum, clock, math, store, shapes and colors play panels should be included. The piece also should include an ADA transfer station (if possible). Specifications: approximately 1,200 square feet protective area; designed for 2-5 age group; price range: $8,000 to $15,000 Bid #3 will be for an ADA-compliant bucket-style spinner/merry-go-round piece accommodating as many as 10 children. Ground level access is preferred. Specifications: up to 400 square feet protective space; approximately 6 to 10 ft diameter; designed for 2-12 age group; price range: $2,000 to $5,000 Bid #4 will be for on-site professional assistance/oversight for volunteer installation up to 50 hours as needed (will direct volunteers to install equipment; price range: $2,000 to $5,000). Bid #5 will be for the most affordable ADA compliant safety ground surface material and border material for playground area (approximately 4,000 square ft in total area; approximately 350 linear ft of border material needed; price range: $3,000 to $10,000) Selected bidders will be responsible for the design and provision of playground equipment pieces; provision of safety surface materials for playground areas; and/or provision of professional installation supervision. The playground equipment pieces should provide engaging features and components for three different children's age ranges. The large-sized playground system should exhibit moderate to high complex features, appeal to the 5 to 12 age level, cover approximately 1,200 square feet in ground space, and require a surface material protective area approximately 2,400 square feet in size. The medium-sized playground system should exhibit moderate complex features, appeal to the 2 to 5 age level and have an approximate protective area of 1,200 square feet. The spinner/merry-go-round should be ADA-compliant, contain bucket-style seats, appeal to the 2 to 12 age level, and have an approximate protective area of 400 square feet. Shade features are welcome on appropriate playground pieces so long as their inclusion remains within each playground piece's designated price range as detailed in the Advertisement for Bids. The Park Board invites bidders to offer creative designs and play systems. Playground equipment pieces are requested to safely fit in the designated playground areas, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2 as potential project site plans. However, the Park Board is welcome to other layout designs so long as general square feet stay consistent. Manufacturers are encouraged to be creative with their designs and provide multiple alternatives. Playground equipment pieces are expected to comply and meet all accessibility and safety standards as well as the guidelines specified in this advertisement. Quality of equipment components, quality of design, play value, cost, and appropriateness to target demographic must be taken into consideration in the equipment design. The professional installation supervision will include assistance to local volunteers to assemble and install the playground equipment pieces once they are delivered. The installation supervisor is expected to provide on-site assistance up to 50 hours throughout the installation period. Schedule is negotiable within a timeframe and supervision will be requested as needed. The safety surfacing material for the playground area is estimated to require approximately a 4,000 square ft area and will require ADA-accessible surface material. Bidders are encouraged to provide estimates for both ADA-rubber mulch and ADA-engineered wood fiber materials. The Park Board also invites bidders to design a multi-material layout for the playground areas using ADA-accessible materials. .
