Renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center.
Opened in 2006, the Imperial Centre for Arts & Sciences is a rehabilitated former industrial building housing the Maria V. Howard Arts Center Galleries, Rocky Mount Children's Museum & Science Center, event space, special exhibits, and additional space for Parks & Recreation offices and operations. The building roof requires replacement due to material and installation defects. The City secured an appropriation from the United States Congress in 2021 to cover $950,000 of this project, with the remaining costs provided by the City As of May 30, 2023, this project is included in the CIty of Rocky Mount's Fiscal Year 2024-2028 CIP and funding allocated for FY 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
