The City of Lawrence, Kansas is proposing to contract with a qualified contractor for the cleaning, removal, and land application of liquid to semi-solid digested solids from three (3) Anaerobic digesters located at the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant, 1400 E. 8th St., Lawrence, KS 66044. The Kansas River WWTP is undergoing an extensive upgrade. Each digester will need to be emptied individually at times that corresponds with the upgrade project. There could be three (3) mobilizations. The tentative timeframes: Digester # 1 will be taken down in the 1st quarter of 2024, Digesters 2 & 3 are slated for the 4th quarter of 2024 - through 1st quarter 2025. The proposal should be for the digester cleaning, removal of approximately 700,000 gallons (in total) of sludge to be land applied on the adjacent field or possibly at the Wakarusa River WWTP ag land. The project should be planned for no more than 10 days per digester.
