The University of Texas at Austin ("UT Austin" or "University") is requesting sealed proposals from qualified service providers to support with modernizing the two-stop freight elevator located at McDonald Observatory. Furnish all materials, tools, insurance, equipment, labor, services, permits, and licenses necessary for the planned modernization of referenced freight elevator. The project consists of replacing the hydraulic freight elevator systems at MCD. This includes drive and control systems in their entirety. The jacks and pistons will be replaced with new jacks that are protected against corrosion on all portions that are buried in the ground. The safety devices will be modernized, the moving and wear parts of the door systems will be renewed. The efficiency of the lighting will be maximized. Complete details can be found in Exhibit 1. One-year warranty and Service shall be included and begins the first day of the month following QEI acceptance of modernization project. Non-proprietary operational controller and components shall be used to allow for routine future maintenance without requiring proprietary tools, software or replacement parts.
