The Ministry of Forests, BC Timber Sales (BCTS) Stuart-Nechako Business Area is establishing a Select List of prequalified contractors specializing in Forest Road Construction Contracts who may be invited to participate in subsequent direct invitation or select invitation solicitations on upcoming Road Construction, Deactivation, Maintenance, and Bridge Installation contracts. Only prequalified contractors will be invited to participate on these contract solicitations. Subsequent agreements may have the potential of being multi-year contracts of up to seven years or option-to-renew contracts whereby the Ministry reserves the right to renew but is under no obligation to renew to a maximum of five terms. Where a multi-year or option-to-renew contract is to be tendered, all contractors on the list or within a specified, pre-disclosed category of eligibility will be invited to submit offers; contractor names will not be rotated from the Select List. Contractors interested in being evaluated for inclusion on the Select List are invited to obtain a prequalification information package available under Supplier Attachments Exist. The package contains details of the proposed project types, the mandatory prequalification requirements, and complete instructions for submission of a response. Objective: To create a list of qualified experienced forest road construction contractors. To offer qualified contractors the opportunity to bid on road work related contracts. Location: Throughout the Stuart-Nechako Business Area, Vanderhoof and Fort St. James Forest Districts. Anticipated commencement/completion dates are varied, throughout the term of this RFQ. Expected methodology and/or equipment/technology required: As an individual road or groups of roads need to be constructed, maintained or de-activated, contractors qualified through this RFQ will be provided with as much information as possible Work within the contracts may include some or all: Felling and decking of Right of way timber Road Construction including reading and implementing geometric road designs, bridge designs and/or road deactivation prescriptions; Reading and implementing conceptual Bridge designs; Bridge and culvert installations according to design drawings and installation specifications. Sign and culvert marker installation Pit development and road surfacing Upgrading and maintenance of existing roads or trails Standards to be achieved: road standards will be specified on a road-to-road basis. Contractors must be knowledgeable of applicable federal and provincial legislation particularly the Forest and Range Practices Act and Federal Fisheries Act Contractors should be familiar with the provincial Fish Stream Crossing Guidebook, Forest Road Engineering Guidebook, Guidelines for Professional Services in the Forest Sector – Crossings, Guidelines for Professional Services in the Forest Sector – Forest Roads.
