Contractor will furnish, maintain, repair and/or replace approved steel containers of sizes needed. The containers must be compatible with the contractor's pickup equipment, and be watertight, rodent proof and inherently fireproof. The Contractor must use vehicles specifically designed for waste collection that have watertight bodies and do not permit loss of waste. Open box trucks, with canvas covers, will not be permitted with the sole exception of specially requested roll off containers. Collection vehicles must be maintained in good repair, operate safely, be relatively clean, and not be considered unsightly. Vehicles considered by the COR not to meet the prior minimum standards will not be permitted to collect waste on VA property until corrected. The Contractor must have sufficient vehicles for backup of regularly assigned vehicles to insure completion of contract requirements in the event of breakdowns or other unforeseen problems. Excluded waste streams are Chemical, Controlled, Hazardous, Medical, Radioactive (nuclear), Recyclable, Sharps, Toxic or Regulated Medical Waste. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 10/01/2023 - 09/30/2024, with the provision of four option years.
