Question Acceptance Deadline 06/30/2023 11:00 AM EDT Description The Airport requires design and environmental services for two airfield pavement projects: the rehabilitation of Runway 8-26 and construction of an MRO apron with connecting taxiway. The Design phases of the two projects may or may not run concurrently. The Bidding and Construction Phase services of the two projects may or may not run concurrently. The Engineer should be prepared to staff the projects accordingly. Project 1 The rehabilitation of Runway 8-26 stems from the deterioration of the asphalt pavement over the last 20 years. A Pavement Evaluation Report developed by FDOT in November 2022 for PNS classified Runway 8-26 as Fair, and Part 139 inspections routinely discover loose aggregate on the runway surface. It is anticipated that the bulk of the rehabilitation will be a restoration project consisting of a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt. The Project will include evaluation of the existing conditions, recommendation of pavement rehabilitation methods, and design of airfield pavement improvements. The Engineer will prepare bid documents, including one bid alternate for the installation of an 84" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) under the runway to be connected to the airfield stormwater drainage system in a separate project. Project 2 The Extension of Taxiway A and MRO Apron Project is required in connection with the construction of a large maintenance/repair/overhaul (MRO) facility to be built in the northwest quadrant of the Airport. The additional pavement extends off the north end of Taxiway A. The Engineer will be provided with 30% drawings of the Project in order to coordinate the design of the Project with the design of the MRO, which will be occurring separately.
