The Township intends to engage a consultant to provide quality flow monitoring of the sanitary sewer system. The consulting services for this project include the review and analysis of previous studies and system data to determine the ideal number of flow monitors to be installed and the most appropriate locations. The flow monitoring devices will be supplied by the consultant including any additional site specific equipment required to optimize the data collection. The devices will be maintained by the consultant throughout the project to confirm quality flow data is being collected. Rainfall data can be acquired from the Niagara Region from the rain gauge located at the Smithville Pumping Station. However, the Township will require that a temporary rain gauge be supplied, installed and maintained by the consultant in a location of Smithville central to the catchment areas being monitored. The consultant is responsible for all flow monitoring and rainfall data collection, transfer, storage and reporting. The consultant will assess the current operation of the sanitary sewer system in consideration of the sanitary rehabilitation work completed in 2023 and in relation to previous studies of the system. Recommendations and/or a work plan are to be provided on areas within the system that warrant further investigation to reduce wet weather flows to increase capacity in the system.
