Demolition, site work, paving, outdoor lighting and new construction of an educational facility in Portland, Oregon. Design plans call for the construction of a 315,000-square-foot, four-story above grade educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; for the demolition of a 300,000-square-foot educational facility; for outdoor lighting for a educational facility; and for paving for a educational facility.

Plans for the new Cleveland High School call for two four-story primary wings connected by a skybridge. The northern academic wing housing classrooms and labs, and a southern wing dedicated to performing arts and major events. At the center of the campus, a secure and active outdoor courtyard will serve as the school’s heart, offering students a vibrant space for gathering, studying, and outdoor performances throughout the day. The modernization includes a full performing arts theater, a black box theater, two new gymnasiums, and dedicated dance and wrestling studios. A new, welcoming main entrance will be created on SE 28th Avenue, with separate after-hours access for community-use spaces such as the theater and gym. Plans also include a Student Health Center. Athletic facilities will see major upgrades as well. Powell Park athletic fields will be improved in coordination with Portland Parks, and the stadium track and field will receive significant enhancements. As of April 21, 2026, the Cleveland High School Modernization project is 75% through the design phase. Demolition is scheduled to begin in July 2026, followed by new building construction starting in Winter 2027. Athletic field construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2028, and the new main school building is projected to be finished by Fall 2029.
