Derry Town Council approved a significant extension of the Derry public water system. A new 12-inch water main will be installed along Tsienneto Road from Route 28 By-Pass to Route 102, and then along Route 102 to Faith Drive. In addition, a new 8-inch water line will be installed along Barkland Drive from Tsienneto Rd. to Birchwood Drive. Lastly, the existing plastic water lines along Birchwood and Brookview Drives will be replaced with new 8-inch ductile iron water lines and copper service connections to the property lines. The project engineering design has begun with initial survey work, which will identify (and mark) existing utilities, structures, wetlands, etc. Underground drilling/borings which will identify the types of soils and location of ledge, is scheduled to begin this July and continue into September. These borings will be drilled along the roadside every couple of hundred feet. We expect to bid the project in February 2024 with construction anticipated to begin around May 2024. The Town intends to complete the water main project by the end of calendar year 2024, prior to the NHDOT Exit 4A project which is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2025 and/or 2026 in this section of Tsienneto Road. Any residents who abut the new water lines (shown in orange on the map on the reverse side of this notice) who may be interested in a public water service connection to their property, should notify the Derry DPW by email. Please understand that you would be responsible for the cost of your individual service connection.
