The University of California, Merced is soliciting Statements of Qualifications from architecture firms interested in providing programming, design & cost estimating services for Classroom and Office Building 3 The Classroom and Office Building 3 (COB3) building is anticipated to be approximately 80,000 gross square feet and will provide an array of academic spaces including general assignment classrooms, an auditorium, and large lecture halls. The building will support primarily social science and humanities programs and the launch of several new academic programs in support of student enrollment goals. COB3 is expected to house approximately 35 new senate faculty and support over 2,000 additional undergraduate students. The COB3 project success is contingent on the campus receiving the second installment of campus expansion funds from the State of California. The Merced campus is committed to sustainability and will require this project to achieve LEED Platinum certification and will be all electric. The design team's responsibility will be to develop a conceptual design and cost estimate, for initial project approval. Upon approval, further development of supporting documents, including the detailed project program (DPP), will follow. The design team will lead workshops to define the programmatic needs in development of the DPP, which includes but is not limited to room data sheets and project specific requirements.
