The 14 acres Ewert Park was deeded to the City of Joplin on February 29, 1924, by Mr. Paul A. Ewert and his wife, Sidney T. Ewert. A prominent lawyer and onetime Assistant U.S. Attorney General, Mr. Ewert gave the Park and Pool to Joplin's African American citizens; but the Park was later opened for all citizens to use. Ewert Aquatic Center, located within Ewert Park, was renovated in 1974 and 2003 The new splash park is expected to include:

Improvements to the entrance between the bathhouse and concession building The City of Joplin has elected to pursue the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) project delivery methodology for this project. The selected CMAR shall provide planning (preconstruction) and professional inputs pertaining to construction schedules, construction market conditions, budgets, project-specific means/methods & constructability, and overall project construction costs. The City’s overall goal for CMAR services is to integrate construction
expertise with the design process provide “value-added” efficiencies to project planning and construction execution.
