The Long Island Maritime Museum (LIMM) is located on the waterfront in West Sayville. It was originally operated by the Parks Department, but has been operated by a not-for-profit corporation under a license agreement with Suffolk County Parks since 1974. It is comprised of approximately 14 acres and nine historic buildings and serves to preserve Long Island's maritime history and heritage for educational purposes. The County supports this historic asset through maintenance, capital restoration of structures, and event operational assistance. As of August 20, 2024, this project is included in the Suffolk County's FY 2025-2027 CIP. Information regarding a design team and the contractor selection has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
