Renovation of a municipal facility in Los Angeles, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The Hall of Administration Base Isolation Seismic retrofit project consists of the installation of seismic isolators under the foundation of the existing building. Hydraulic jacks and temporary load-bearing shoring will be installed in phases to support and transfer the gravity loads from the existing columns/walls to new support foundations. Seismic strengthening of the superstructure using new concrete shear walls is required at selective locations. A moat gap will be constructed around the building perimeter using earth-retention walls. Shoring and earthwork operations will require demolition and reconstruction of the existing site around the building. The M/E/P scope consist of adjustments, alterations, temporary offsets, and new replacements to accommodate for the new structural systems and seismic movement of the building. All underground utilities will be modified with flexible connections where the utility lines pass through the perimeter moat gap. This project will be performed at an active site where the building is occupied during typical work hours. Temporary provisions of various sorts will be accommodated so as not to disrupt the occupants of the building. Work categories include: Shoring & Underpinning, Shotcrete, Rebar Key Subcontractor Qualifications:Design-Build experience for: Earth-retention Shoring Systems; bondable and prequalified with McCarthy Building Co.; experience completing base isolation seismic retrofit projects using deep permanent and temporary, free standing, earth retention systems using tiebacks, soil nailing or other strategies of similar scope. This project requires: - Prevailing Wages - Traditional Insurance - Design and oversight services by a qualified, licensed California Professional Engineer in collaboration with the existing Design & Engineering Team. - Community Workforce Agreement McCarthy is an equal opportunity employer and encourages qualified Small Business and Minority Business participation.
