Proposals from qualified consulting teams to provide professional services for the design, geotechnical evaluation and recommendations, environmental permitting documentation, cultural & historical review, and potentially right of way and/or construction assistance for the R Street SE and 21st Street SE Roundabout The project is located at the intersection of R Street SE and 21st Street SE. The intersection is currently a two-way stop-control intersection, existing sidewalk on both sides of R Street SE, a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) on the north leg, and three street light poles. There are also existing underground utilities in various locations within and adjacent to the intersection. A single lane roundabout with splitter islands in place of the existing east/west two-way stop-control on R Street SE and 21st Street SE. Improving street lighting including a new power service. Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at the pedestrian crossings. Upgrading curb ramps and damaged sidewalk. Storm drainage improvements associated with the roadway improvements. Replacing approximately 220 LF of 12-inch watermain and 355 LF of 16-inch watermain. Evaluating the subsurface conditions to provide utility trench and pavement This project has a voluntary 10% Small Business Enterprise (SBE) goal. Although the goal is voluntary, the outreach efforts to provide SBE maximum practicable opportunities are not. The SBE Participation Plan is required prior to commencing work Project design is anticipated to start in December 2023 and be complete by December 2024.
