Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Grand Lake Road, Nova Scotia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 50,000-square-foot, two-story above grade educational facility.
Cape Breton University (CBU) is accepting Proposals from qualified and experienced Construction Management firms to provide construction management services for construction of the Cape Breton Medical Campus project (CBMC). Cape Breton University is partnering with Dalhousie University to design and operate this facility. The CBMC building will be a new build stand-alone building. The medical sciences building is estimated to be 50,000 sq ft with an estimated construction budget of $37 million. The facility will be the cornerstone of the Cape Breton Medical Campus, housing educational and research space to train the next generation of physicians with a focus on family medicine and rural practice. The CBMC will welcome its first cohort of up to 30 students no later than September 2025. The successful proponent is required to demonstrate proven experience in managing projects of a similar size and scope for existing commercial space. Proven ability to engage in the value engineering design process would be considered an asset. CBU intends to enter into a Construction Management agreement with intent to exercise the Stipulated Price option as per the CCDC 5B - 2010.
