The intent and purpose of this request for unsealed quotes is to find a Contractor to resurface two pools, the leisure and therapy pools, for the Town of Christiansburg's Aquatic Center (hereinafter call the "Town"). This project is intended to be turnkey with work to be done between August 14 - 25, 2023. Pool Dimensions Therapy: 1,129 square footage, 25,400 gallons Leisure: 3,668 square footage, 88,750 gallons The Town will drain, clean, and re-fill the pool for the work. The Contractor will be responsible for the initial treatment of the new pool water. Contractor shall supply all chemicals including Calcium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate and Muriatic Acid for initial water balance and water treatment to prevent staining of the new plaster. Contractor is to furnish labor, equipment, and materials to re-plaster the interior of the two pools. Saw cuts are to be made adjacent to existing tile, fittings and other built-ins. Hollow spots to be removed down to the original concrete shell up to a maximum of 10% of the total surface area. Existing surface will be chipped back to allow new finish and a flush fit. The existing tiles on the steps and seats to be replaced. Hashed racing lane tiles will be replaced instead of chipped around so the floor will remain level and flush. Surface is to be acid washed and a bond coat applied to assure new finish will bond. Diamondbrite Premium White plaster is required on the entire interior surface of the swimming pools. The existing surface on the zero entries will remain. Main drain covers are to be inspected and replaced via separate invoice if required, adhering to the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act regulations. Hydrostatic Relief Valve shall be inspected and replaced as needed via separate invoice upon approval by the Town of Christiansburg. Any damage done to the existing gutter or other pool areas shall be immediately repaired by Contractor at the Contractor's expense. Inspection of all interior surfaces, skimmers, steps, railings, ladders, expansion joints, coping, and tile will be performed by the Contractor. All work should include a 12-month warranty beginning with the Town's acceptance of the completed project. All permits are the responsibility of the Contractor. Three references are required from a qualified Contractor providing evidence of recent pool renovation to include pool re-plaster, tile and gutter work, expansion joint and coping. References must be from Municipalities at or greater than 25,000 in population, including universities and colleges.
