Reference Number 0000325299 This project will improve existing channelization of the Arkansas River through this reach by replacing the concrete spillway structure along the northern subchannel on river left with a series of 5 drop structures each separated by a recovery pool. The overflow weir along the main channel on river right will be replaced with a single spillway chute structure. The two channels combine to form a single channel below the spillway and the fifth drop structure of the boater channel, which conveys the total river discharge through a sixth (final) drop structure and recovery pool where it then arrives at the existing river channel. Channel and bank stabilization will be provided via concrete structures, grouted riprap, and loose-placed riprap of varying dimensions. Additional amenities within the of services will include the construction of access trails, assembly and placement of a new pedestrian bridge, and the relocation of an existing wooden pedestrian bridge.
