Demolition, site work, new construction, renovation and addition to a transportation facility in South Burlington, Vermont. Completed plans call for the addition of a 36,000-square-foot, three-story above grade transportation facility; for the demolition of a transportation facility; for the construction of a 36,000-square-foot, three-story above grade transportation facility; for the renovation of a transportation facility; and for site work for a transportation facility.
The project consists of an expansion of the existing North terminal at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport, demolition of a portion of the existing terminal, utility construction, utility and generator relocation, new aircraft apron construction, new passenger boarding bridges, and interior renovation of a portion of existing 2nd floor concourse level. Sub Bid Divisions: GC The total estimated finished floor area of the expansion is 36,000 square feet. An unfinished lower level of approximately 28,500 square feet is also part of the building. A preliminary design has been completed and is presented in the Bid Documents. The project also includes the construction of approximately 4,400 linear feet of recreational path, landscaping, and hardscape features on Airport-owned property in the adjacent Chamberlain neighborhood Technical questions during the bid period shall be directed to Stu Moncrieff at Jacobs (Phone: 603-496-9267, e-mail: stu.moncrieff@jacobs.com). DEADLINE FOR QUESTIONS OF 5 DAYS PRIOR TO BID DEADLINE. CM at Risk: Project will be delivered using CM at Risk. Allowable under FAA funding. CM to assist with cost estimating, design review, constructability, lead time, etc. to best fit the project within available funding. GMP to be negotiated after 80% design development. GMP negotiation to include final Division 01 specifications. Building: Construction of ~36,000 SF new finished terminal space (~28,500 SF footprint). o Apron level: ~28,500 SF unfinished space (mechanical/electrical/sprinkler rooms). o Concourse level: ~28,500 SF finished space (circulation, holdroom, restrooms). o 3rd level: ~7,500 SF finished space (Airport office, restrooms, observation space. o 3rd level: Outdoor/rooftop space for public (non-ticketed passenger) use. New passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) (up to 4 new PBBs anticipated). Demolition/renovation of existing concourse level for improved circulation and future holdroom space. Scope of building work subject to change to align with project funding. Site: Pavement removal. Building demolition (approx. 4,250 SF). PBB demolition/disposal/relocation. Backup generator and utility relocation. Installation of new site utilities and drainage. Apron expansion (approx. 1,500 SY) Pavement restoration (select material and new bituminous pavement). Minor fencing work. Scope of site work subject to change to align with available funding. Off-site (Landscape mitigation): Construction of ~4,400 LF recreational path in adjacent Chamberlain neighborhood. Path width and surface type TBD. Five (5) street crossings. Landscaping and hardscape features. All on property owned by the Airport. Scope of landscape mitigation subject to change based on value of Terminal improvements. Safety: Draft Construction Safety and Phasing Plan (CSPP) drawings have been developed. CM will provide input on phasing and work areas prior to submittal to FAA for approval. Permits (by Jacobs and subconsultants): Vermont ANR (Act 250, Stormwater). South Burlington Site Plan Approval.
