Renovation of a laboratory facility in Dayton, Ohio. Working plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.

As of January 20, 2026, construction documents are complete; however, the project is still determining proper funding. Contractor bidding is expected to commence in prior to the end of first quarter 2026. While a firm construction timeline has not yet been established, construction is not expected to begin prior to second quarter 2026. *The closed solicitation has been included below for historical reference: The City of Dayton, Department of Water (Dayton Water) is seeking proposals from a highly experienced and professional engineering and architectural consultant or consulting team to design an expansion of Dayton's Central Water Quality Laboratory. Since the laboratory was built in 1991 the quantity and complexity of the analyses have increased along with the number of laboratory staff required. The Water Quality Lab has outgrown the existing facility, making it more difficult to efficiently perform the analyses required each day, month, and year. This project will complete all the work necessary to upgrade the laboratory to meet current laboratory best practice standards. The original HVAC system is beyond its expected lifespan and is overtaxed by the heat generated by the added equipment. A new and expanded HVAC system is needed to keep the laboratory in compliance. Written Responses to Questions: July 18, 2023 by end of business The City reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, to waive any irregularities in a proposal, or to accept the proposal(s) which in the judgment of proper officials, is in the best interest of the City. The City reserves the right to accept a part or parts of a proposal unless otherwise restricted in the RFP or issue subsequent RFPs. The City reserves the right to approve or reject any sub-Contractors proposed for work under this proposal or waive any minor irregularities The City reserves the right to select the successful vendor once all proposals are received, without seeking further information for clarification from proposers. Upon review of proposals, the City may designate the most qualified proposals as finalists. These finalists may be invited to make oral presentations and participate in a question and answer session with the City. The City shall have the right to visit selected user sites, should this be deemed necessary.
