Renovation of an educational facility in Murray, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

INVITATION Sealed proposals for the following work will be received by Murray State University, Procurement Services, General Services Building, Chestnut Street, Murray, KY 42071, in the manner and on the date hereinafter specified for the furnishing of all labor, materials, supplies, tools, appliances, equipment, services, etc., necessary for the SORORITY SUITES EAST ROOF REPLACEMENT, as set forth in the specifications and as shown on the drawings for as prepared by and approved by Facilities Management, Murray State University under the terms and conditions of this Invitation. 2. PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project is for the replacement of the shingle roof on the East Sorority Suites Building. Project consists of shingle roof replacement, seamless gutters, downspouts and flashing. 3. METHOD OF RECEIVING BIDS Bids will be received from contractors on a Lump Sum Amount for the total project. All phases of the work shall be submitted in the manner herein described and on the official proposal form included with the conditions and specifications and shall be subject to all the conditions as set forth and described in the Bid Documents. Bids shall be submitted only on the Official Forms supplied by Murray State University, Procurement Services. Failure to comply with the foregoing requirements will be cause for invalidation of bid. 4. METHOD OF AWARD Final award of Contract will be made on an evaluated basis considering the offer that provides the best value for the University considering the following factors: Price - 80% - Phase II Submittal The overall price for the base bid and all selected alternates will be considered. Due to the nature of the project, Murray State University reserves the right to accept alternates in any order that it deems to be in the best interest of the University. Experience of the Firm and Team proposed - 20% - Phase I Submittal The submitting Contractors shall demonstrate their firm's respective experience with similar project types, to include experiences with the Owner if any, in addition to contact information identified per listed project. Projects shall be of similar project type, construction type, and scope within the last ten years. Please provide a minimum of two references. Bidders should also provide information for each similar project demonstrating the number and type of change orders required for each project and schedule adherence to the original agreed schedule. (a maximum of 10 points will be awarded for experience and references). The submitting contractor shall identify all key individuals that will manage the daily operations of the construction project. Submissions must include resumes and experience for the project manager and key technical staff. In addition, provide a list of key subcontractors for the disciplines listed below being considered to make up the construction team. Multiples of these may be listed as primary and secondary. Indicate the subcontractor experience and reference contacts as indicated above (a maximum of 10 points will be awarded for the quality of the proposed team as determined by Murray State University). Sheet Metal Contractor CONTRACTOR FEE There is no fee for an electronic download of the plans for contractors. Contractors who wish to obtain paper copies of the plans should contact Lynn Imaging to make these arrangements. Printing fees are the responsibility of the contractor. Fees for plan rooms wishing to have drawings are posted on the Lynn Imaging page. NOTE: NO PLANS OR SPECIFICATIONS WILL BE RELEASED COMMENCING FIVE (5) CALENDAR DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE BID OPENING. RIGHT TO REJECT Murray State University, Procurement Services, reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive all formalities and/or technicalities where the best interest of the University may be served. 13. GENERAL INFORMATION A. The Listing of major subcontractors, unit prices, and material lists are to be submitted with the bid. B. A prime bidder is to have a responsible authorized representative on the bid opening call for post bid review of the apparent low bid that follows immediately after the opening and reading of the bids. The contractor will tear and properly dispose of existing roof. Old roof system must be torn completely off down to the roof deck. The contractor will install new dimensional shingles. Install six (6) nails per shingle, as recommended by local building codes. The shingle installation will comply in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Place underlayment eave protection sheet barrier rubberized asphalt bonded to skid resistant polyethylene, 58 mil (1.5) thickness, with strippable treated release paper. Place underlayment roof deck protection cellulose/glass fiber composite building paper, water repellant breather type. Place eave edge metal flashings tight with fascia boards. Weather lap joints two (2) inches or 51 mm and seal with roof cement. Secure flange with nails. Install full width underlayment directly to deck in all valleys. Weather end laps six (6) inches or 152 mm and press firmly to seal. Install ridge shingles directly over ridge vent. Use roofing nails of sufficient length to penetrate a minimum of 3/4 inch or 19 mm into wood boards or just through plywood or oriented strand board decking, on centers recommended by the shingle manufacturer. Do not drive nails home; leave a 3/4 inch or 19mm nominal step between the ridge shingles and the roof shingles. Install seamless gutters and 3"x 4" downspouts consistent with existing construction. The contractor shall be responsible for the protection of all surrounding buildings, structures and equipment. The contractor will be responsible to repair all landscaping and lawn areas damaged by this project.
