The Project is located at 5679 Horton Street, Emeryville, California, and is described as follows: abatement and demolition of an approximately 47,000 square foot concrete tilt-up building; demolition of surface and below-grade asphalt and concrete features, including heavily reinforced foundations; demolition of existing utilities; excavation of known or potentially contaminated soils in an approximately 72,000 square foot area to depths ranging from 5 feet below ground surface to up to 10 feet below ground surface; disposal or recycling of demolition and excavation wastes off site; performance of an approximately 10,000 square foot portion of the excavation within a tent with a tent air ventilation and treatment system, potentially requiring Level B personal protective equipment; importing, placing, and compacting approximately 23,000 tons of fill material; installation of storm, sanitary sewer, and water utilities; restoration, grading and paving of the Project site; installation of a new perimeter fence with gate; providing all permitting, controls, and notifications required to complete the Work; and conducting Work under Department of Toxic Substances Control oversight. The work, to be completed within 550 days, is more fully described in the Contract Documents as defined in the Notice Inviting Bids. The estimated construction cost is $12,400,000 for base bid items.
