In an effort to make the Fire Department a more inclusive environment and to support the City Council's Major City Goal of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Fire Department is seeking to remodel the living quarters for Fire Stations 3 and Station 4. Both Stations were designed with dorm-like sleeping quarters that lack the needed privacy for a multi-gendered staff. Station 4 will also need bathroom modifications in addition to the living quarters. This project will allow the fire department to conduct a space study and design, allowing staff to properly plan for the remodel scope and budget requirements. This project is included in the City of San Luis Obispo's FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Per the owner, as of October 9, 2023, an architect has been selected. The owner states that the project has not yet been allocated construction funding. The owner states that staff anticipates requesting funding with the next Financial Plan (2025-2027) for construction and would enter construction depending on the year funding is available. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
