Since 2008, the hillslope along Pismo Street between Morro and Chorro has be deteriorating, resulting in installation of protective k-rail barriers chain link fencing to prevent rockfall from injuring the public. In December 2021, additional failures and dislodging of boulders occurred, necessitating a geotechnical consultant to evaluate the slope. These damages were further exacerbated in the Winter 2023 storm events. The consultant has recommended a long-term fix of a vertical retaining wall to mitigate the issue. This project is included in the City of San Luis Obispo's FY 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of October 4, 2023, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available. Funding is anticipated in 2023/2024.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
