Idaho State Parks & Recreation has newly acquired the historic Challis Hot Springs property which includes a campground, several buildings, and a public hot spring on a 104-acre site along the Salmon River. This project will analyze the existing campground, structures, infrastructure, and site conditions to determine needed upgrades and future development opportunities at this unique property. Analysis will include accessibility, utility infrastructure, historic, cultural and environmental review to prepare a sitewide conceptual development plan to enhance existing facilities. Design may include, but not be limited to, signage, landscaping, campground repairs and expansion, infrastructure repairs and upgrades, geothermal pool upgrades, paving design, existing structure repairs, new restroom facilities, new shelters, new visitor center, pedestrian bridge, and river access.
