All questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents or the Contract Documents shall be submitted to ENGINEER in writing. In order to receive consideration, questions must be received by ENGINEER at least seven (5) business days prior to the date fixed for the opening of Bids. Any interpretations of questions so raised, which in the opinion of ENGINEER require interpretations will be issued by Addenda mailed or delivered to holders of record documents for receipt not later than three (3) business days prior to the date fixed for the opening of Bids. The ENGINEER and OWNER will not be responsible for oral interpretations or clarifications which anyone presumes to make on their behalf. ADA RAMPS: ITEMS SW1 - SW24 1.01 SCOPE OF WORK A. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals required to construct replacement concrete sidewalk segments of the dimensions shown and as detailed on the Plans, and including all saw cutting, earth bedding and rock excavation, tree root removal, forming, surveying, mobilization, disposal of unwanted materials furnishing, placing, and compacting new stone bedding, all required form work, raising or lowering of all utility boxes, manholes, valves, etc., concrete and concrete finish work, furnishing and installing reinforcing mesh (driveways), general cleanup of the site, striping, tree trimming, detectable warning surfaces (brick red), sign installation, restoration, and all other work and expense required for a complete installation and not included in other items. B. Concrete sidewalks shall be a minimum of 4" thick, except at driveway crossings the walk shall be 6" with woven wire reinforcing. C. Any disturbance of or damage to existing sidewalks or driveways outside of the work area as a result of the Contractor's operations shall be repaired/replaced in accordance with these Specifications, at the Contractor's expense including the furnishing of material. The above work includes restoration of areas in the immediate area of formwork. D. All new sidewalk and driveway surfaces shall be treated with an approved antispalling compound. Material and application rate shall be subject to the Engineers' approval. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. It is the intent of this work identified to provide the Town with a contract mechanism to perform work necessary to install or repair concrete sidewalks and ADA Ramps. B. See Appendix "B" for plans showing locations of sidewalk installation & repair areas in the Town of Amherst. For all other work not indicated on this plan, referred to as Alternative Items A through D, the Town will provide notice to the contractor as to what area within the Town requires sidewalk installation or replacement. A map and/or physical markings on side will be provided to the contractor for most locations. C. The Town has the following, but not limited to, mechanisms for sidewalk installation/repair: 1. Town of Amherst Capital Improvement Project funding for installation of sidewalks adjacent to Town-owned property. 2. Town of Amherst Community Development Block Grant funding for installation of sidewalks on Augusta Avenue. 3. Concrete sidewalk replacement and installation to be determined by Town Engineering (Alt Item A - D) Question Deadline 09/02/2023
