In Summary, the work to be performed under the terms of these Specifications consists of installation of sediment control, bat gate mine portal closures and revegetation on the site known as the Sugar Grove Branch Portals Project for the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Sugar Grove Branch Portals project is located at 18712- 18950 SR-638 Grundy, VA 24657. *Contractors will need to have hazard training before entering Buchanan Mining property. Training will take place directly following the pre-bid conference Construction work time will be 30 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond or guarantee of five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, which shall be a certified check, cash escrow or a bid bond payable to the Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Virginia The successful bidder shall deliver to the purchasing office executed Commonwealth of Virginia Standard Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds, each in the sum of the contract amount, with the Commonwealth of Virginia as obligee. The surety shall be a surety company or companies approved by the State Corporation Commission to transact business in the Commonwealth of Virginia. No payment shall be due and payable to the contractor, even if the contract has been performed in whole or in part, until the bonds have been delivered to and approved by the purchasing office. Standard bond forms will be provided by the purchasing office prior to or at the time of award. The Work shall be executed with sufficient personnel, equipment and material to complete work in 30 days. The Contractor shall be under a Time of Year Restriction and all work on the portals may only be performed between August 15 and October 15.
