Renovation of a municipal facility in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
**As of May 24, 2024 this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established.** Questions regarding bids should be submitted to Alexis Holland, Purchasing Associate II, via email alexis.holland@gwinnettcounty.com no later than 3:00 P.M. local time, Friday, March 29, 2024. Bids are legal and binding upon the bidder when submitted. Work to be performed under this project include but is not limited in providing a new roofing system for the Gwinnett County Correctional Facility. Where Gwinnett County provides forms for bid or bond submissions, they must be used without exception. A five percent (5%) bid bond must be submitted with the bid. Successful contractor will be required to provide a one hundred percent (100%) payment and one hundred percent (100%) performance bond as well as an insurance certificate fulfilling requirements as stated in the bid documents. Surety and insurance companies must have an AM Best rating of A-5 or greater, be listed in the Federal Registry of Companies holding Certificate of Authority and acceptable sureties on Federal Bonds, be licensed by the Georgia Insurance Department and the Georgia Secretary of State to do business in the State of Georgia. Bidder agrees to complete the Contract awarded within the "allowable calendar days for completion" from the date of the "Notice to Proceed" and further agrees that the Owner may retain from the monies which may become due the amount of $750.00 per day for each and every day that the completion of the work may be delayed. The project is required to be FM certified and all applicable FM minimum requirements are to be incorporated into the work. Demolition consists of preparing for a roof recover over an existing roof system at all roof areas, including removal of: gravel, flashings, cants, expansion joints, copings, gutters/downspouts, and other existing roof items as noted on the drawings. The existing roof insulation board, cover board, and existing roof membrane will remain. Equipment, RTUs, exhaust fans, duct work, and miscellaneous equipment are to remain and/or be temporarily displaced as needed to install the new roof system. RTUs are to remain in place and not lifted- see drawing details for curb flashing. Primary and emergency overflow scupper flashings areto be replaced. Collector boxes and downspouts are to be salvaged and reused, unless noted otherwise (see Alternates). Primary and overflow roof drains are to remain and shall get reflashed with the installation of new clamping rings, bolts, and strainers. The roof hatch, fixed ladders, gas lines and other metal piping, excluding conduit and PVC condensate lines, are to be repainted as specified. Roof drain lines are to be videotaped to confirm that they are not damaged or blocked. Base Bid: Power broom and vacuum off gravel at all roof areas under contract. A new, torch-applied, two-ply modified bitumen roofing system with a 25 yr. NDL warranty over a mechanically attached cover board over the existing roof system is to be installed. A cap sheet with a 92 SRI shall be provided. The roof system will comply with FM 1-90 minimum standards for wind uplift. New copings, flashings, gutters/downspouts, expansion joints and other components are to be provided for a complete and warrantable installation. A lightning arrestor system is present and will have to remain active to the extent possible but must be temporarily displaced to install the new roof. The work is confined to all components above the roof deck. A certified electrician, that is qualified to coordinate the displacement work with the roofing contractor, shall be utilized. Reinstallation of the system will require retesting to meet required UL requirements and the issuance of a warranty to the Client. Non-penetrating lightning rod and cable supports are required.
