Shaler Area School District is now accepting bids for field renovations at Matulevic Baseball Field at Shaler Area High School, 381 Wible Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15209. Attached find the bid specifications. Strip all sod from middle infield, sidelines to warning track, approximately 12ft beyond arc. o Remove all spoils and dispose of at Owners designated location. o Laser grade resulting soil area to remove lips, ensure positive surface drainage and prep sod. o Laser grade existing infield to balance and prep for infield mix. o Any topsoil used must be screened. o Re-sod all turf areas that have been removed. o Add infield mix to bring skin up to grade and laser finish grade. o Renovate mound and homeplate with new rubber, homeplate and mound clay. o Install new base anchors, bases, pitching rubber, and home plate. o Appropriately topdress and groom for play. o Return after sod is established to sand topdress turf to fill any remaining seams and smooth surface. o Field layout must comply with NFHS requirements. o Obtain any required permits. o Provide all site prep and all necessary layout work. o Provide all materials needed to complete the work. o Provide all labor necessary to complete the work. o Provide all equipment necessary to complete the work. o Submit all payment requests and necessary paperwork. o Correct/repair any and all damages due to or caused by their work procedures including any damage to irrigation system or field. o Complete all site cleanup. Maintenance Requirements Lawn/Sod Maintenance: o Begin maintenance immediately after each area is planted and continue until the entire contract has been completed and accepted by Owner. o It is understood that acceptance of lawn areas as mentioned herein will not relieve the contractor of responsibility for correction of defects in this phase of the work which may become evident during the effective period of the One-Year Maintenance Bond. o Maintain and establish sodded lawn by watering, fertilizing, weeding, mowing, trimming, patch sodding, and other operations. Roll, regrade, and patch bare or eroded areas to 100 percent rooted sod field. o Watering: Maintain lawn uniformly moist. o Schedule watering to prevent wilting, puddling, erosion, and displacement of seed or mulch. o Mow lawn as soon as top growth is tall enough to cut. Repeat mowing to maintain specified height without cutting more than 33 percent of grass height. Remove no more than 33 percent of grass-leaf growth in initial or subsequent mowings. Do not delay mowing until grass blades bend over and become matted. Do not mow when the grass is wet. Maintain sod lawn at height of 2-1/4-inches. Clay Surface: o The finished surface of the infield and features shall be smooth and free from any visible dips, humps, bumps or other blemishes which would hinder the removal of water through positive surface drainage. o After final completion of field surfacing, Contractor shall submit a certificate to the Owner, that the "As-built Condition" of the field, elevations, etc., are in accord with listed standards and NFHS rules and regulations. Provide a finished elevation survey.
