Provide design services and carry out work to - 1. Check existing piles and confirm depth and capacity 2. Maintain the bridge at existing width 3. Replace the existing railings with 8"x 8" W Beam treated timber railing 4. Replace the one rotten stringer 5. Replace two piles in each pier with new steel piles and remove existing wooden ones. Note; pile capacity to be confirmed through the services of a geotechnical engineer 6. Replace the steel cap on the east end and any steel pile cap assemblies as needed 7. Confirm the status of the existing bridge deck and make any necessary repairs 8. Confirm the weight capacity to be 40 ton maximum 9. Provide engineered drawings, sealed by an engineer licensed to practice in Manitoba. 10. Work to commence after 2023 harvest and be completed by 1 April 2024. Schedule of work and liquidated damages 1. Start date - to be mutually agreed on between the Prime Contractor and the municipality(ies). 2. Based on a proposed start date, provide a completion date no later than 1 April 2024. 3. If the work, or any deficiencies found, are not completed by the completion date, liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day shall start on 1 April 2024. 4. In addition, a lump sum liquidated damage of ten thousand ($10,000) dollars will be charged if the work is not completed by 1 April 2024 5. No consideration will be given for rain dates 6. If either the Municipality of Louise or Municipality of Pembina deems the work to be delayed, those said days will be credited to the completion dates. 7. The municipality(ies) may terminate the contract in the event the contractor does not perform the services contracted for in a reasonable and efficient manner. 8. No compensation will be considered for any work by the contractor if work is terminated by the municipality(ies).
