York County is interested in receiving bids from qualified firms who can offer Ammonium Calcium Nitrate for Odor and Corrosion Control for Waste Water Systems for use by the York County Water and Sewer Department. A. The product supplied shall be an aqueous solution of ammonium calcium nitrate double salt, containing a minimum of 3.5 pounds of nitrate-oxygen per gallon. Approved chemicals: Bioxide and Cal-X Plus. B. The product shall be capable of reducing the dissolved hydrogen sulfide concentration in wastewater to less than 0.1 mg/I. C. The product supplied shall utilize the inherent ability of the facultative bacteria normally present in wastewater to metabolize hydrogen sulfide and other odor- causing, reduced sulfur containing compounds. D. The product shall be chemically stable, allowing continuous removal of sulfide contributed by side streams downstream of the application point. E. The product shall be free of any objectionable odor-producing compounds. F. The pH of the product shall be no lower than 4.0 nor greater than 9.0. G. The product shall not freeze above 5 degrees F. H. The product shall be fully compatible with storage and feed equipment constructed of any of the following materials: 1. High Density Cross-linked Polyethylene 2. PVC 3. Polypropylene 4. FRP 5. Stainless Steel (316) I. No seasonal variation of product concentration shall be permitted. J. The minimum nitrate-oxygen content and specific gravity of the quoted solution must be provided and must be expressed as pounds nitrate-oxygen per gallon of solution.
