NH DOT - Bridge Rehabilitation of Red List Bridge Carrying NH 175 Over Pemigewasset River This project rehabilitates the existing State Red List bridge (Br. No. 177/148) that carries NH 175 (East Side Drive) over the Pemigewasset River. The bridge is located approximately 300 feet east of the intersection of NH 175 and US 3. The existing bridge was built in 1939 and is a single span steel tied through-arch with a length of 175 feet between bearings at abutments. The bridge width is 24'-0" between curbs. The bridge is currently reduced to a single lane of traffic operating with a stop/yield condition. It is posted for a weight limit of 3 tons, passenger cars only. The limits of work begin approximately 185 feet west of the bridge on NH 175 and continue approximately 575 feet easterly on NH 175 across the bridge. The work includes (refer to the Plans for detailed information): Rehabilitation of the bridge abutments and wingwalls. Replacement of the floor system including bridge deck, stringers, and floor beams. Replacement of the arch rib cable ties including installation of temporary ties. Replacement of the bridge deck expansion joints, and bridge rail. Replacement of bridge shoes. Cleaning and painting the structural steel, including environmental protection and compliance with lead-bearing paint (LBP) removal regulations. Full-depth reconstruction of the roadway approaches to the bridge. The bridge will be closed, and traffic detoured during the construction operations as described elsewhere in the Proposal.
