Renovation of a fire / police facility in Ketchikan, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
Communications is key factor in emergency services, currently due to topography of our area (island wide) and the lack of line of site communications, repeaters are needed to communicate with responders. By relocating the STVFD repeater to Anvil MTN on Annette Island, STVFD will have communications with dispatch and all responders. Anvil MTN provides a clear and complete operational and functioning radio system for all of the STVFD response area. This also allows AST, KVRS, or any other agency to place a repeater to enhance communication for emergency services. As of March 26, 2025, Project is in the capital improvement plan (CIP) for FY2026-2030. The project is currently on hold. Information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. A firm construction timeline has not been released. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
