The City of Sebastian is hiring a contractor to complete swale work in conjunction with their roadway rehabilitation plan. The selected contractor will be responsible for all grassed swales within the right of way of roads to be rehabilitated. The City of Sebastian is hiring a contractor to complete swale work in conjunction with their roadway rehabilitation plan. The selected contractor will be responsible for all grassed swales within the right of way of roads to be rehabilitated. The locations of swales that will need contracted services are all outlined in Attachment A and denoted in yellow and totaled in linear feet. For all swales the required elevations at the inlet of culvert pipes will be determined by City of Sebastian staff and marked on the roadways for reference. Coordinate with City staff regarding areas where quarter round will remain at the completion of the project. No quarter round will be re-installed. Quarter round will only remain in areas where it was intact and grading could be completed without removal or disturbance. All sod will need to be removed and the swale will need to be regraded from the edge of the road to the property line to accommodate stormwater runoff to move from the paved roadway to the center of the swale. Grading should be completed to account for the height of sod that will be placed for the final condition to still allow positive drainage of stormwater runoff. All sod and or fill that is removed during the process may be stockpiled at the City of Sebastians site for composting in lieu of disposal at a landfill. If fill is needed at any point during the work the stockpile of material will be made available to the contractor. After regrading is completed all swales will need to be re-sodded with the same type of sod that was previously located in the swale (Bahia or Floratam). If the contractor desires the pre-existing sod may be saved and re-utilized, but is not a requirement of the contract. All sections of swale must be sodded in order to limit future erosion. City Staff will complete an inspection of completed swales in conjunction with invoice payment to verify all completed work. All inspections should be coordinated with the Citys project manager. This contract will not include any culvert pipe or driveway work. The City staff as well as their hired contractors will be completing driveway repairs in these swale repair areas.
