Site work for a water / sewer project in Ketchikan, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project will entail extending HDPE water mains from the end of the South Tongass Water Utility to intertie with the City of Saxman's water system as a standby water source. Work will include installation of a valve vault with metering and backflow prevention. This project is considered mutually beneficial, aiding the City of Saxman to replenish their treated water supply during low water situations and providing a standby water source if an issue occurs at Whitman Creek. The current standby water sources at Forks Creek Dam are not viable. As of September 12, 2023, project is in Capital Improvement Plan for FY2024-2028. Project is scheduled for FY2025-2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
