As of January 8, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. Contract 2023-01 includes: Corporate Hangar 1 Repairs. This project shall consist of the concrete floor removal and replacement in Hangar No. 1 including the 10' concrete apron in front of the Hangar. The Base Bid consists of the entire floor slab being carefully removed, taking care to not damage any reinforcing embedded in the slab. The slab appears unreinforced; however, in many instances, reinforcing extends the width of the structure at the column lines. These bars are used to resist outward forces generated by the structural frames. While no reinforcing was observed during geotechnical drilling, it would be prudent for the Contractor to attempt to locate reinforcing prior to slab removal. Once the slab is removed, the existing subgrade will be undercut and sealed to mitigate future expansion of the materials. New sub-base will then be placed, and a new slab poured to the proper elevation. Additionally, the existing trench drain shall be removed and replaced in the hangar floor. Also, the cracks in the CMU should be routed and filled with epoxy crack repair material. The open joints between the apron and structure should be filled with compressible material. All joints should then be filled with a non-shrink sealant to prevent water infiltration. Deduct Alternate No. 1 would be a deduct to keep the eastern half of the hangar slab in place. Consequently, this alternate work would include the sealing of the existing cracks. The cracks should be routed and filled with epoxy crack repair material. Deduct Alternate No. 2 would be a deduct of the crack repair of CMU mortar joints. Bidder shall submit all questions about the meaning or intent of the Bidding Documents via the "Clarifications" feature in PennBid no later than seven (7) days prior to the date for receipt of bids.
