This project consists of the improvement of the Veterans Memorial (Detroit- Superior) Bridge, a doubledeck, reinforced concrete and steel, through-type arch bridge, which spans 3,112 feet long, connecting Detroit and Superior Avenues over the Cuyahoga River Valley, from W 25th Street to W 9th Street in the City of Cleveland. The Veterans Memorial Bridge Connectivity Project's scope of work is anticipated to include the multimodal considerations on both the upper and the lower level, improvements to existing points of access and their connections to the existing street network, installation of new points of access, streetscape enhancements on the upper level, ADA compliance, signage and lighting. The goal is to highlight the bridge as a unique historic and cultural destination amidst some of Cleveland's most important civic landmarks while strengthening and multiplying connections between downtown, the Flats, the Warehouse District, Ohio City, Detroit Shoreway, and other destinations. This project will build on the work performed previously, including the 2013 NOACA Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative (TLCI) study ("The Detroit-Superior Bridge Project: Connectivity Plan"), as well as public engagement conducted by the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative in 2019 and 2023.
