1.2 Project Description (the "Work") The University has established a construction budget for the Cost of the Work in the amount of $450,000 (current dollars, no escalation) As one of the largest facilities on campus, the Fieldhouse is accessed by open recreation participants, the University of Minnesota's Track and Field team, and a variety of University and community members. The facility currently has limited restrooms that are not accessible and do not meet the quantity required for large scale events. A typical track meet could see 1000 people. The facility has a capacity of 2500 people. Previous special events have seen up to 5000 people. The facility is also used as an emergency distribution center. The University of Minnesota is soliciting Design-Build services to include the design and construction of accessible restrooms, custodial closet, and a small office. Preliminary space planning drawings were completed on a previous project (see attached RFP Documents). Preconstruction services shall include review of previous layouts with user groups, code review for quantity of fixtures required, design of the restrooms to University of Minnesota design standards, and a cost estimate of the work during the combined SD/DD phase of the project.
