As of January 10, 2025, per owner, an engineer has been identified. A general contractor has not been selected yet. Bidding is planned for December 2026. Currently the project is in plan development at 60% plans. Construction expected to start Summer 2027. MnDOT requests responses for roundabout design development, preliminary and final geometric layout, and final design of the roundabout at the US 71 and TH 210 intersection in Hewitt. The project area has several existing constraints including bridges over the Wing River on both US 71 and TH 210, the skew angle of the intersection, the Wing River, and minimizing impacts to adjacent private property. With the proximity of the bridges to the intersection, coordination with MnDOT Bridge Office is anticipated. Project Goal The goal of the project is to develop a roundabout design that will improve safety and mobility while minimizing impacts to the existing bridges on both US 71 and TH 210, the Wing River, and private property.
