New construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Oshawa, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a 12-story above grade, 242-unit multi-residential development; six-story above grade, 142-unit multi-residential development; and three-story above grade, 33-unit multi-residential development.
Redevelopment of community housing on Malaga Rd. Development will consist of a 12-storey apartment building featuring 242 units, two 6-storey apartment buildings featuring 75 and 67 units, and two 3-storey stacked townhouse buildings featuring 18 and 15 units, with shared open space and surface and underground parking. The total number of dwelling units in the proposed development is 417 units. The applicant intends that approximately 50% of the units will be affordable and rent-geared-to-income units, and 50% will be market rate units. TIMELINE: Request for proposals for commissioning services has been issued under ID # RFP-1095-2026. Information is available on https://durham.bidsandtenders.ca. RFP closing date is September 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM. An application for Official Plan Amendment has been submitted for approvals. Site plan approval application is also required. Construction is expected 2028-2032. Updates on design may be available in early 2027.
