In 2008, a Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) identified petroleum hydrocarbon (PHC) soil and groundwater contamination at the former Colinton gas station (the Site). The Site is located at SW-15-65-22 W4M (survey plan 6716ET) within the hamlet of Colinton, Alberta, and borders the Tawatinaw River. A historical retail fuel outlet operated on-site until the late 1960's. The site is currently owned by EPA and is used as a public park area with maintained trails including a designated portion of the Trans Canada Trail. Alberta Environment and Protected Areas is seeking to retain an environmental consultant to plan and execute appropriate next steps. There are four major objectives of this project which aim to reduce overall risk posed by existing contaminated soil and groundwater as well as establish a risk management strategy for residual contamination to ensure ongoing protection of all receptors: A. Remediation of Source Area B. Wildlife Mitigation C. RMP Development D. Ground Water Monitoring The anticipated duration of Services is from May 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028.
