Site work for a mixed-use development in Salt Lake City, Utah. Conceptual plans call for site work for a medical facility.

STATEMENT OF WORK Title of Project: Upgrade Exterior Wayfinding Authority for the project: Veterans Affairs (VA); National Contracting Office (NCO) 19 Purpose of the project: This project is in-line with the VA s continuing effort to improve the environment of care and move patients more efficiently throughout the campus, reducing stress on both patients and staff. This project will also improve the existing wayfinding for emergency personnel. Background: The current Salt Lake City Veteran Affairs exterior signage and wayfinding is dated, inaccurate, and in need of replacement. Exterior Sign Identification The awardee shall program, procure, and install all new exterior signage. This will involve programming and sign location being prepared, including a complete sign message schedule identifying each sign, its message, and its type. The contractor will be responsible to have stamped signed drawings for signage requiring footings. The contractor to reference PG 18-10 Signage Manual for footing requirements. New Signage should follow ADAAG Standards and ABAAS along with Barrier Free Standard. B. Directional and Wayfinding Signage The awardee shall perform a site verification of the entire 89-acre external campus. These signs shall be programmed, manufactured, and installed in accordance with the VA signage requirements and standards, including a complete sign message schedule identifying each sign, its message, font, font size, materials, dimensions of sign, brand, etc. The VA COR, VA Police, and Life Safety team shall approve this list before the signs are procured. Sign location shall be prepared showing the placement and location of all signs. All signage, graphics, and terminology should follow and be in line with the wayfinding guidelines developed by the VA (VA Salt Lake City Exterior Sign Study) as well as all applicable traffic and VA Standards. This contract will not include new electrical conduit or electrical . The contractor shall not install or furnish any electrical components of the signs as outlined in the VA Salt Lake City Exterior Sign Study. C. Life Safety and Regulatory Signage The awardee shall program, procure, and install new life safety, and regulatory signs. These signs shall be programmed, manufactured, and installed in accordance with life safety, code, traffic codes, and regulations. This will involve programming and sign location being prepared for regulatory, code, and life safety for approval of the VA COR, VA Police, and Life Safety team. SITE INVESTIGATION/ REPORT: The contractor shall survey current exterior signage and wayfinding methods at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VA SLCHCS) facility in Salt Lake City, UT. Review existing signage and Wayfinding/documentation: Existing documentation shall be used as to locate and identify the existing signage. The survey shall include the location, type, and verbiage on the sign. Consolidate all information collected from existing data and new information collected via physical and verification, to be included in a report of conditions. Survey Narrative: A narrative report defining the proposed survey approach and schedule shall be provided to the COR for approval and access requests. Contractors shall coordinate access to each location in advance, to avoid interrupting medical center operations. Once submitted, a will be held to discuss the preliminary schedule and coordination plan with VA SLCHCS staff for access to each location. The survey narrative must be approved by the COR before the physical component of the survey begins. Investigation Report: Microsoft A(C) Excel spreadsheet/ PDF including photos, to include: Shall quantify and identify all signs, materials, verbiage on the sign, dimensions, and include a picture of each sign. The contractor shall identify where additional signage may be needed. Contractor is also required to identify signage that is repetitive. The signage shall be organized in the Excel/ PDF sheet in a logical order. Drawing Sheets of Proposed Signage Drawings of signage should be detailed. Drawings should be scaled and include fonts, size of font, material, exploded details, mounting instructions, colors, universal icons, details of hazardous chemicals, instructions of height/ position of mounting, scaled details, graphics, keys, and finishes. Contractor shall use the study conducted by Creative Signage for the following details (VA Salt Lake City Exterior Sign Study). Drawing sheets shall be provided to the COR as a .pdf in full color and to scale. Drawings shall contain sufficient detail as determined by VA COR, to properly understand and identify area detail and exact locations of all components of the signage and wayfinding. Requirements The contractor shall show a detailed containment plan for infection control and hazmat control. This plan shall be detailed showing locations and what infection and hazmat control requirements are to be used for each area of installation and demolition. Safety and infection control requirements shall be enforced for the duration of the project, regardless of any disruptions, to protect patients, visitors, VA staff, and contractors/ subcontractors. The contractor shall be responsible for the site during construction and shall ensure all contractor employees and subcontractors always adhere to all safety and infection control requirements. The contractors working hours will be 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. All federal holidays there will be no work conducted unless approved in writing by the COR and CO. Due to the nature of the work being conducted on the grounds of an active hospital the working hours may vary to cause minimal disruption to the hospital. Any working hours outside of the allotted times will need to be approved by the COR and CO and scheduled two weeks in advance. Work outside of these hours not to be an additional cost to the VA. The contractor must always wear the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and badges provided in a visible location when on site. The contractor is required to attend a weekly review after each stage during the construction process and provide minutes to the VA COR for approval and distribution. Contractor is required to provide a printed copy report for each . The contractor will be required to provide an updated detailed schedule weekly Monday Morning by 9:00am. The contractor must always submit a hard and digital copy weekly for the VA COR to approve. The contractor shall submit all RFI s related to the of wayfinding signage and signage to be installed for approval. Ensure all signage is installed per seismic codes, standards, and specifications. All signs must be leveled and mounted properly and approved by the COR. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time.
