This project will install 12' tall downward-facing pendant lights on mast arms along the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail from Catoctin Circle SE at the car wash to Catoctin Circle SW at Loudoun County High School. It will provide a safe route for pedestrian travel in the dark while connecting residential areas to downtown. It will minimize environmental impacts through adherence to Dark Sky standards by facing the light down onto the trail, thus minimizing light trespass outside the path and minimizing glare to the surrounding area. The project will support sustainability goals by opening additional safe and comfortable routes for pedestrians and bicyclists to travel to and around downtown. The project is included in the City's 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
