Sexton Mountain Pump Station: The Sexton Mountain pump station is the City's primary pump station and the only one capable of lifting water to the Cooper Mountain reservoir. The upgrades are needed to increase the capacity, reliability, effectiveness, and efficiency of the pump station. Phase 1 of the SMPS Upgrade has been completed and included two 250 horsepower (HP) pumps and associated variable frequency drives (VFDs), retaining wall replacement, fence expansion, emergency standby generator and automatic transfer switch (ATS), two electric switchboards, transformer vault, and associated electrical improvements. Phase 2 will include upgrades to the existing pump station, a new seismically resilient pump station with a restroom, two booster pumps, a hydropower turbine, electric vehicle chargers, and architectural, structural, fencing, electrical, sanitary, and water line improvements. The project is included in the city's 2023-2024 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), As of December 26, 2023, a design team and general contractor are identified. Design was completed in March 2022.
