Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Prairie City, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
This project is generally described as trenchless and trenched water main construction: Along N Park St, N Orchard St, & N Claire St from W 8th St to W 9th St. Along W 9th St from N Park St to N Claire St. Along W 5th St from N West St to N Monroe St. Along N Madison St from W 5th St to W North St. This project also includes water service crossovers and side street connections along the routes. The improvements include approximately: 3,829 LF of trenchless 8" diameter water main; 61 water service connections; 12 fire hydrant assemblies; 26 valves; 213 LF of PVC storm sewer replacement; 215 SY of full depth HMA pavement patches; 295 SY of PCC sidewalk; 174 SY of PCC driveways; and 203 SY of granular driveways. Other associated improvements include, fittings, appurtenances, ADA compliant landings and ramps, traffic control, erosion control, surface restoration, and miscellaneous work necessary to complete the project. Est. Value: $ 972,069.00 Work on the improvement shall be commenced any time after a written Notice to Proceed is issued, no later than March 17, 2025, and shall be completed as stated below in the Completion of Work Section. The Notice to Proceed will be issued after the preconstruction conference. Doc Note - Paper Copies of the Bidding Documents May Be Obtained at the Office of Msa Professional Services, Inc., 1555 Se Delaware Ave, Suite F, Ankeny, Ia 50021 Upon Receipt of a Refundable Deposit of $75.00 for a Half Size (11" X 17") Sets of Plans. Any Plan Holder Upon Returning the Bidding Documents Within 14 Days After Award of the Project and in Good Condition Will Be Refunded Their Deposit. Mailing Costs for Paper Copies Will Be Paid for by the Requestor. You Must Call 515-964-1920 in Advance to Reserve a Paper Copy. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable to the City of Prairie City, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in the amount of 10% and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the City of Prairie City. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bond shall be issued by a responsible Surety approved by the City of Prairie City and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of Prairie City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of four (4) years from and after acceptance of the Contract. The Contractor shall substantially complete the project by no later than August 29, 2025. Substantially complete shall be defined as all utility and grading construction being completed, with the new infrastructure being tested and put into service, including water main, water service crossovers and new streets, driveways, and sidewalks fully open to traffic. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $1,000.00 per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated Contract term(s). No work will be allowed on Saturdays except with permission of the Engineer. The Contractor shall fully complete the project by no later than September 30, 2025. Fully complete shall be defined as all surface restoration being completed, and all improvements being ready for final acceptance. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work in this timeframe, liquidated damages of $500.00 per calendar day will be assessed for work not completed within the designated Contract term(s). Prevailing wages for this project are located at the end of "Proposal Item #2: SRF Front-End Specifications & Prevailing Wage Rates The City of Prairie City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
