Boiler #1 at the UC Davis Central Heating and Cooling Plant (CHCP) is a Babcock & Wilcox Industrial watertube boiler producing up to 100,000 lbm/hr of high-pressure steam. The boiler was manufactured in 1965 and will not meet new California air emissions regulations set to take effect beginning January 1, 2024. This project will shop test, deliver, install, and provide startup and commissioning, acceptance testing, supervision, and training for one (1) Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system to be installed for Boiler #1 in order to meet pending emission standards. Also, a part of this project, the University will connect the new direct urea/ammonia system for Boiler #1 to the existing SCR system for an existing boiler designated as Boiler #4 at the Central Plant that will eliminate the use of an anhydrous ammonia system, improving worker safety at the plant. The design builder will confirm the existing grid and catalyst are compatible with the direct urea or ammonia injection. The successful proposer will be required to have the following California contractor's license at the time of the proposal opening: General Engineering "A". Proposal Security in the amount of 10% of the Lump Sum Base Proposal, excluding alternates, shall accompany each bid. The surety issuing the Bid Bond shall be, on the bid deadline, an admitted surety insurer (as defined in the California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120)
