Site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Benton, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the addition of a 14,700-square-foot educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
In general, this project shall be a major renovation and addition to the existing Career & Tech Center. This work shall address: existing non-compliant Life Safety Building Codes, KDE Safety Regulations and/or ADA Regulations, select programming requirements as necessitated by student need, and existing systems and materials which are no longer suitable due to having exceeded their life expectancy. More specifically, the work shall include replacement and/or renovation of existing Shop Areas including elements such as O.H. doors, plumbing fixtures, HVLS fans, electrical circuitry, a comprehensive fire suppression system, ADA egress/ingress improvements, as well as constructing approximately 1,700sf of new Shop Area classroom additions, Administrative Area renovations, and approximately 13,000sf of new educational area required to facilitate expanded curriculum offerings. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid greater than $100,000.00 in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount. Bid security shall be in the form of a bid bond issued/executed by an acceptable surety company authorized to do business in the commonwealth of Kentucky or a certified check. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of 30 days after opening of bids. Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities and irregularities. Documents will be provided to prime bidders/ sub-contractors/ suppliers; only complete sets of documents will be issued. After this fourteen day period no refunds will be made for Plans and Specifications returned. A maximum of two sets may be obtained by refundable deposit. Additional sets over two may be purchased for $500.00 with no refund. Additional shipping charges as determined by River City Printing will apply. Electronic copies of documents may also be obtained provided one hard copy set as noted above is obtained prior. A nonrefundable amount determined by and payable to River City Printing shall be required. Due to the ease of sharing electronic information in a third party arrangement or partial context, bidders are cautioned to reference the Instruction to Bidders Article 3.1.3 and the responsibilities for errors or misinterpretations resulting from the use of incomplete sets of bidding documents. Viewing Procurement and Contracting Documents are available at the following locations: Marshall County Board of Education, CMS Architects, Marcum Engineering, BFW Engineering, and Various agencies. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the Work. A Performance Bond, Labor and Material Payment Bond, and Insurance in a form acceptable to Owner and in an amount of 100 percent of the contract amount plus all direct material and equipment values designated in the bid as breakout items to be acquired by the Owner, through the direct purchase order agreement process, will be required of the successful Bidder.
