The goal of the Muck Road Empire State/Canalway Trail extension planning process is to develop viable design, permitting, and construction documents for a trail segment which extends from the current Empire State Trail/Canalway trail terminus at South James Street to the Muck Road boat launch. The proposed trail extension is approximately half a mile, and the route will be wholly contained within the public right-of-way or state-owned land fronting the Barge Canal. The Muck Road trail extension design will include: - Stormwater collection and treatment facilities - AASHTO-compliant recreational facility - ADA compliance - Complete streets principles into the public right-of-way The selected consultant will conduct site reconnaissance visits, develop draft designs, develop construction documents (including stormwater management and technical specifications), facilitate and attend up to 2 public engagement meetings, and apply for and acquire all required permitting and regulatory approvals for the project.
