Renovation of a military facility in Akron, Ohio. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a military facility.

Akron Readiness Center was established in 1938. The Readiness Center is on 5 acres. The Readiness Center was 13,547 sq. ft., 3 storage buildings are 16,679 sq. ft., privately owned vehicle parking was 1,965 sq. yd., and military vehicle parking 10,244 sq. yd. Akron Hawkins Readiness Center is for life cycle replacement of the Armory electric system. Additional work is needed in renovation of existing facilities. The purpose of this project is to renovate the existing National Guard Readiness Center at Akron-Hawkins. The proposed activity will be of permanent construction. 1. This project will include phased demolition (QDEM) of BLDG 00003. 00005 and Cold Storage. Demo Cold Storage building last. 2. Repair (QRPA) of existing asphalt parking lots and swales for proper drainage. Repair AC in room 101 and drill floor. DFAC to receive exterior Eifs repair; prevent birds from nesting inside. Fix water leak issues. Remove mildew/mold growth inside. 3. Repaint ceiling and walls. Polish concrete floors. 4. New construction (ERER) of a PEMB close to the DFAC and Armory to include unheated storage and a climate controlled are for sensitive medical equipment. 5. Renovations are to be made to the RC: Add secure entrance with keypad access system. Install new flagpole and exterior sign. In the classroom/conference room, remove floor tiles, polish concrete, patch, and paint walls. Strip and polish all concrete floors. In commander's office, take up tiles and polish concrete floor, paint walls. In storage room, find source of water leak and fix it, paint walls, and replace ceiling tile. 6. Upgrade electrical systems and add generator hookup. Asses changing location of switchgear to make it more accessible (currently it is in locked supply room). 7. Re-stone the ORG parking. ORG parking needs gravel and vegetation cleanup. Possible Alternate to expand ORG Parking area to the East. 8. Fence line has massive trees growing into and over it. Will need to evaluate a course of action to remove / relocate fence and remove existing trees if needed. 9. Replace existing roofs at building 1 and building 2, that are no longer serviceable.
