Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Houston, Texas. Completed plans call for the construction of a medical facility; and for site work for a 85,298-square-foot, two-story above grade medical facility.
https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/12/15/reimagine-houston-where-it-stands.html Many Houstonians don't have access to affordable health care. Dr. Esmaeil Porsa and other doctors are taking aim at the heart of the problem. Despite Houston's world-renowned concentration of medical talent and research institutions, many Houstonians still find it difficult to access health care. Everything from finances, policy and geography serve as obstacles to care for many local residents. It's a problem to which Harris Health System President and CEO Esmaeil Porsa has given a lot of thought. "If a health system like ours didn't exist, patients would have to find health care somewhere else, putting additional strain on other health systems," Porsa said. "At the same time, we need support from the community to continue pursuing our mission of providing high-quality health care to our patients." Porsa said the community stepped up in a big way for the Harris Health System in 2023. In November, voters app-roved a $2.5 billion bond that will fund a new Level 1 trauma center at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, improvements to Ben Taub Hospital allow more Harris Health clinics to be built. The new trauma center at LBJ Hospital is scheduled to open in 2028. "This bond was really the difference between surviving and thriving," Porsa said. By improving and adding to its existing facilities, Porsa said Harris Health will be able to better meet the needs of the community. The health care system has already begun evaluating where at least three new clinics will be built so they can serve areas with large numbers of low-income residents, Porsa said. Additionally, Porsa said the improved hospital facilities will ensure all emergency room patients are able to see a health care provider in less than 24 hours and that patients are not waiting in the emergency room for a bed to open up. "The new facilities are going to take a few years, but we are already working to make improvements for our patients in the near term," Porsa said. _______________ https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2023/12/15/reimagine-houston-where-it-stands.html Many Houstonians don't have access to affordable health care. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital on the existing campus located at 5656 Kelly Street, Houston, TX 77026. The replacement hospital is anticipated to consist of a podium with a bed tower encompassing an estimated 1M +/- square feet along with a parking garage, central utility plant and site work. Contractor shall provide a proposed site layout and phasing recommendation. The replacement hospital construction will be phased to avoid disruptions to the existing campus operations, including maintaining all code required parking counts.
